Canadian Rockies is so close to The Haggin Museum's Mount Sir Donald, Asulkan Glacier in format and composition that they seem like adjacent, vertical slices of the Selkirk Range. Here light shines blindingly on frosted peaks, effectively set off against the dark zone of evergreens, which is also a foil for the bright patches in the foreground. Everything within the painting leads the eye upward to the majesty of the mountain range: the vertical formats, the zigzag arrangement of fallen logs in the foreground, the arrows of the trees in the middle distance.
