The core of the museum’s art collection was assembled by three generations of the Haggin Family and is comprised primarily of late 19th-century American and European paintings.  This unique collection features excellent examples of the French Salon, Barbizon, Rocky Mountain, and Hudson River Schools.

In addition to the Haggin Family Collection, the museum also has a distinguished collection of decorative art.  Furniture, art glass, period lamps and clocks, ivory, jade, coral, and porcelain items are on display throughout the museum.
