Art Adventures
THE ART OF ROMARE BEARDEN: Stories in Jazz

Families with children ages 5-12 are invited to learn about painter, musician and baseball player Romare Bearden at May's art workshop. Led by Fremont School Visual Arts Teacher Stacy Sims, participants will learn about this fascinating artist, listen to some jazz and use collage to tell a special story from their lives.

James Jaffe Cello Recital

James JaffeCome enjoy one of the area's most gifted young musicians on Mother's Day.

James Jaffe will perform Leos Janácek’s Pohadka (A Tale) for Cello and Piano, George Crumb’s Solo Sonata for Cello and Beethoven’s Sonata No. 4 in C Major for Cello and Piano.

2008 Summer Art Workshop registration now open

Audubon - Douglass SquirrelRegistration is now open for the 2008 Summer Art Workshop for children ages 5-7 & 8-10.

This summer our adventure in art will explore different printmaking techniques: styrofoam, wood, linoleum block printing, chop marks, collagraphs and monoprints. It will be inspired by the special exhibition Audubon's Animals of North America and the the beasties in the museum's permanent collection.

Registration will be by mail with classes filled on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 25 students each. The workshop brochure and registration form can be mailed to you or downloaded from our web site.

Stockton Art LeagueThe Stockton Art League is now accepting entries for its 55th juried art competition and exhibition. The original competition was conceived to recognize, promote and reward excellence in Northern California art and this year is being expanded to include artists residing in the United States. More than $5,000 in total cash awards will be presented.
