Displays

While the museum’s special exhibitions are planned years ahead, displays are much smaller in scope, usually limited to a case or two in one of the museum galleries. They provide the opportunity to highlight the museum’s collections and honor anniversaries and special events in the Stockton community.

Aesop's FablesAnimal Prints: Illustrated Books for Children
July 6 - August 24, 2008

John James Audubon’s work during the first half of the 19th Century increased interest in natural history and elevated the quality of animal representation in print. This mini-display showcases the zoological images found in Victorian children’s literature. The books were intended for young readers but the images are of a quality enjoyable to all ages.

The Central Valley is known for its mild winters, and snow is a rare sight. But this mini-display in the museum arcade will present photographic evidence that Stockton has known true white winters, even if only for one day at a time.

The Hull Gallery will again host an ofrenda to honor the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos. This year's will be in memory of longtime Stockton resident Loretta Reynoso Alaniz, created by her three daughters. More >>

To honor the centennial anniversary of Rotary International, The Haggin has worked with local Rotarian Stan Thomas to create a display featuring photographs and other Rotary International memorabilia, primarily from the collection of Cliff Dochterman. More >>

Easter postcardBounding Into Spring:
Postcards from The Haggin Museum Archive

February 27 - March 26, 2005

The museum has organized a number of displays of Christmas and New Year’s postcards over the past several years. This spring, for the first time, it will offer a display that focuses on vintage postcards sent as Easter greetings. Roosters, chicks, rabbits, and lambs are among the frolicking springtime animals that grace these cards. More >>
