Bounding Into Spring:
Postcards from The Haggin Museum Archive

February 27 - March 26, 2005
Hull Gallery

The museum has organized a number of displays of Christmas and New Year’s postcards over the past several years. This spring, for the first time, it will offer a display that focuses on vintage postcards sent as Easter greetings. Roosters, chicks, rabbits, and lambs are among the frolicking springtime animals that grace these cards.

Sent between 1909-1914, many of the postcards were made in Germany. Each features a whimsical scene with spring flowers and animals that will delight museum visitors.

These postcards come from two recent donations to the museum’s archive. Those given by Nyla Fornaciari belonged to her mother, Eva Campodonico Brichetto of Linden. Barbara Evans gave the collection of her grandmother, Nellie Josephine Geoffrey Huber, a longtime resident of Newman, California. The museum’s trustees and staff extend their warm thanks to both these generous donors, who made this display possible.
