Letters from Home: The Stockton Homefront in WWII
June 25 - August 6, 2006
Victorian Hall

V-Mail A donation from Stocktonian Thomas Ferrari, arranged by museum member William Maxwell, is the basis of this special history display.

It includes letters written to Ferrari during his time as a soldier in WWII by friends and family in Stockton. The letters were sent to him while he was at training camps in Georgia and Tennessee, as well as when he was stationed in Europe.

The letters from home include information about how Stockton was changing and about life on the College of the Pacific campus where his sister was a student. The collection includes examples of V-mail, a means of communication used during WWII which was faster than air mail.

This special display was put together by the museum's new Data Entry Specialist Heather Mellon, a 2006 graduate of University of the Pacific with a Bachelor's degree in history.
