Music at the Museum:

John FergusonBeethoven Sonatas by John Ferguson

Sunday, August 8, 2010
3:00-4:00 p.m.

Free to museum members; Included with regular admission: $5 adults; $2.50 youth 10-17 and seniors; children under 10 free with adults. Seating will be available starting at 2 p.m.

Pianist John Ferguson will perform an all-Beethoven recital on Sunday, August 8, as part of the Music at the Museum series.

This performance will include the monumental and sublime “Hammerklavier” Sonata Op. 106, a work which Beethoven predicted would be played by pianists “fifty years hence.” Nearly 200 years after its composition, it is considered one of his greatest works and the most difficult of all piano sonatas.

Opening the program is Beethoven’s youthful and serene “Pastoral” Sonata Op. 28— a perfect complement to the “Hammerklavier.”

Seating is limited and will be available starting at 2 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information contact Lisa Cooperman at (209) 940-6315 or education@hagginmuseum.org.

Admission to the museum for this event is $5 for adults 18 and up; $2.50 for youth ages 10-17, students with a valid I.D., and seniors 65 and older. Museum members and children under 10 accompanied by an adult are free. For disabled access, please call the museum ahead of time at (209) 940-6300 or 940-6317.
