Kimball will guide you in a relaxing and informative talk with lots of musical examples that will help open up your ears to the wonders of classical music. He will also talk about conducting and provide insights on what happens during a rehearsal. The Orchestra’s festival schedule includes: Sunday, January 20, 5 p.m., featuring Finzi’s Five Bagatelles, Wagner’s romantic Siegfried Idyll, Rutter’s Suite for Strings and Ibert’s theatrical Divertissement. Friday, January 25, 7:30 p.m., features pianist Jim Coleman in an evening of musical theatre voices. Sunday, January 27, 5 p.m. features Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten by Arvo Part, Violin Concerto #2 by Bach and Monti’s Czardas, El Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla, and a newly-commissioned work by local Max Simoncic.
