This San Francisco day trip will include a visit to the de Young and the Asian Art Museum. Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit the paintings of 16th century Venetian artists, including Titian, Giorgione, Mantegna, and many others on loan from the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
Masters of Venice: Renaissance Painters of Passion and Power at the de Young Museum is a worldwide exclusive presentation of 50 paintings primarily from the sixteenth century, all on loan from the Gemäldegalerie of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Key works include Titian’s sumptuous Danae, and four rare paintings by Giorgione, including The Three Philosophers and Portrait of a Young Woman (Laura). The work of these artists were collected by the archdukes and emperors of the Hapsburg family.
Maharaja: The Splendor of India’s Royal Court at the Asian Art Museum explores the life and times of India’s great kings by viewing the objects they used and the art they collected and loved. Nearly 200 artworks are on display from the 1700s to the 1940s, including a gold throne, silver carriage, Man Ray photographs, and a diamond belt. Journey through the throne room of an Indian Court to the inner sanctum of the palace. This exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
