In celebration of Black History Month, The Haggin Museum is proud to welcome British historian and author Dr. David G. Styles, who will give a special evening presentation on Thursday, Feb. 24, titled In Doolittle's Command: The Tuskegee Airmen.

The Tuskegee Airmen is the popular name of a group of African American pilots who fought in World War II, when the American military was racially segregated. Officially known as the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the U.S. Army Air Corps, they were the first African American military aviators in the United States armed forces. Despite being subjected to racial discrimination, both within and outside the army, they trained and flew with distinction

Styles is an aero/auto historian who has published 19 books, won 22 international awards along the way. His current major work, "Two Flights to Victory" will be published in September 2011, followed by "The Tuskegee Airmen and Beyond."

Admission to the museum for this event is $5 for adults 18 and up; $2.50 for youth ages 10-17, students with a valid I.D., and seniors 65 and older. Museum members and children under 10 accompanied by an adult are free. For more information call (209) 940-6312 or info@hagginmuseum.org.
