Families are invited to join members of the Artistas del Valle on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 1:30-4 p.m., for an afternoon of creative art-making, featuring demonstrations and hands-on art activities.
Jorge Elizalde will help young artists create figures with corn husks; Luz Lua will teach the distinctive Mexican art of papel picado, or paper cut-outs; and Raoul Mora will demonstrate the use of color pencils. Other artistas will also be on hand during this family event, which will be held in conjunction with the museum’s current special exhibition, Artistas del Valle: A California Experience. This exhibit showcases close to 150 contemporary art works by 20 Latino artists from the San Joaquin Valley.
In honor of this family program, the museum will offer two-for-one admission: $5 for two adults; $2.50 for 2 seniors and/or youth, 10-17; children under 10 free with adult. For more information contact Curator of Education Marilyn Guida at (209) 940-6315 or mguida@hagginmuseum.org. |
