Fall & Winter Scenes:
Flatlands and Foothills

October 22 - December 31, 2006
Park Around the Corner by Kathleen Dunphy
Park Around the Corner by Kathleen Dunphy, oil on linen, 16x12 in.
Visitors to the museum’s Lower West Gallery will be transported to the state’s Central Valley and foothills when the special exhibition Fall & Winter Scenes: Flatlands and Foothills goes on display Sunday, October 22.

Nearly a dozen contemporary artists from throughout California will each contribute 4-5 works to be included in the show, featuring photographs, paintings (oil and acrylic), and pastels.

Those artists are: John Cosby, Gil Dellinger, D’Pharr, Kathleen Dunphy, Dan Kasser, Lucinda Kasser, Peggi Kroll-Roberts, Ron Pecchenino, Ray Roberts, Kent Rogerson and Charles Waldman.

Curated by artist and museum trustee Gil Dellinger, the show’s goal is to capture the various moods of autumn and winter in the rural, unspoiled landscapes of the Central Valley and foothills.

“It’s an underappreciated area,” Dellinger said. “It’s a simple area in that it doesn’t have a lot of incredible grandeur. But that’s kind of its charm. There’s a lot of beauty in the very simple relationships and the work that goes on there.”

Many of the works will be available for purchase from the artists. Pricing information will be available in the gallery and at the museum’s front desk.

Museum Members at the Cornerstone, Life and Business levels are invited to a special sneak preview on Thursday, October 19, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
