55th Stockton Art League Exhibition
September 14 - November 9, 2008

Long Winter by Barbara Conley
Long Winter, acrylic, by Barbara Conley of Modesto, was awarded the top prize in the Stockton Art League's 54th Juried Art Exhibition, on display at The Haggin Museum August 6-September 17, 2006.
. This year's exhibition, juried by artist Gil Dellinger, will include entries from across the country.
The Stockton Art League’s juried art competition returns to The Haggin Museum this summer with the promise of an even more diverse mix of works than in its 54 years prior.

Beginning in 1951, the original competition was conceived to recognize, promote and reward excellence in Northern California art. It is being expanded this year to include artists residing in the United States.

More than $5,000 will be awarded across five categories: Acrylics and Oils, Water Media, Mixed Media & Graphics, Sculpture, and Pastel.

Works will be original, completed within the last two years and not previously shown in any Stockton Art League Exhibit at the Haggin Museum.

JUROR
Gil Dellinger is an award-winning artist who captures the essence of majestic landscapes and dramatic seascapes with extraordinary spontaneity. He received the Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence and Professional Contribution in 1990 at the University of the Pacific where he was a Professor of Fine Art for 30 years. Mr. Dellinger is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America where he has earned the Master Pastellist distinction. His work has appeared in numerous publications including American Artist, the Pastel Journal, Artists Magazine, and the books Painting with Passion and The Many Moods of Light. Also a popular workshop instructor, Dellinger teaches pastel, acrylic, egg tempera and/or oil painting at the Scottsdale Artists School and other premiere art schools across the USA and Canada.

The works on display in the museum’s Lower and Upper West Galleries will be for sale through the Stockton Art League and a brochure with pricing information will be available in the galleries and at the front desk.
