Public Paintouts

Waterfront Warehouse, 445 W. Weber Ave.
Saturday, April 15, 10:00 a.m.-Noon & 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Artist Gil Dellinger and his colleagues will gather at the Waterfront Warehouse on Saturday, April 15, 10 a.m., to begin painting canvases for the upcoming exhibition, Stockton on Canvas. This location offers them a variety of views that encompass the waterfront and the downtown skyline.

The public is invited to watch them paint along the bank of the South Channel. Park in the parking lot or along Weber Avenue and enjoy a walk along the Channel to admire the work of the various artists. Museum staff and volunteers will have a table set up on the west side of the Waterfront Warehouse with information on where the artists will be painting.

The works created that day will be for sale. Anyone interested in purchasing a work can make arrangements with the artist. The purchaser will not be able to pick up the framed work, however, until after the exhibition ends on July 2.

Similar paintouts in 2001 and 2004 proved very popular as they provided an opportunity to see first-hand how these talented artists create plein air paintings of familiar Stockton landmarks.

Victory Park, 1201 N. Pershing Ave.
Friday, April 21, 5:00-7:00 p.m.

The artists will gather late in the afternoon of Friday, April 21, to paint in Victory Park. They will turn to views of the museum and the surrounding park for inspiration. Information on the specific location of each artist will be available from staff at the front of the museum.

Since these paintings will not go into the exhibition, they will be available for immediate purchase from the artists. This event offers an excellent opportunity to acquire original art.

Following the paintout, the artists will gather for a barbeque in the park. The public is invited to bring their own picnic food and join the artists as they celebrate the end of an intense week of painting. A barbeque will be available for those bringing their own meat.

For more information about these events, contact Susan Benedetti at (209) 940-6315 or sbenedetti@hagginmuseum.org.
